Banshees have just come into prominence. Both Wales and Ireland have their own special variety. The Irish banshee accompanies the members of the household on all their wanderings. The Welsh banshee, however, refuses to leave the ancestral home and prefers its family to stay put. But it stretches a point occasionally and wails around the house should anyone connected with it die far away.
Western Mail, 18th September 1940.
Is this some kind of reference to the wailing banshee sirens of the war?
